State education Secretary Pedro Rivera was also on hand to announce that the Allentown School District will receive $2 million for its four middle schools because those schools are listed as by the state as Comprehensive Support and Improvement schools, meaning the total school performance falls in the bottom 5 percent of all Title I schools in a state.
At the event, the Century Trust Fund announced a $2.8 million investment over the next three years for the middle school plan.
